The main religion in Costa Rica is Roman Catholicism. It is estimated that around 70% of the population identifies as Catholic. Costa Rica has a strong tradition of Catholicism, and many important national holidays and cultural celebrations revolve around the Catholic faith. However, there is a high level of religious tolerance in Costa Rica, and people of other faiths are free to practice their religion. There are also Protestant denominations, as well as a small number of people who practice Judaism, Islam, and other religions in Costa Rica.
